Rachel Loeffler approaches the topic of land and landscape with a sense of wonder, acknowledging the land’s
captivating power to transform and heal. She believes that creatively engaging with the wider landscape can
be a process which carves out space and time for personal reflection and understanding—a way to honor and
pay tribute to our relationship with the land and the community in which we live, as well as to bolster our own
resilience and sense of humanity, independent of external circumstances.
Rachel’s artwork is immersed in the land and constructed landscapes. Her background spans multiple media
(wood, metal, photography, drawing, digital media and technical drafting) and her practice bridges several disciplines (painting, landscape architecture, sculpture, science, and engineering). Some of her works are realized as sculpted landforms within the landscape, while others are captured in small reflections on canvas. Painting for Rachel has emerged not only as a daily practice but has expanded and evolved over the past two decades in dialog with her practice as a landscape architect.
