Hues of Blue / Window Exhibition
Building on a series of gallery window exhibitions in July, August, and September, Gallery A3 presents Hues of Blue, opening on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Gallery members join together in a group show of artwork celebrating the color blue in all its variety and beauty, ranging from aquamarine to cobalt, from Prussian blue to cerulean, and from light blue of the early morning sky to the deep blue velvet of midnight. This window exhibition continues Gallery A3’s efforts to keep visual art actively present in the community, despite the restrictions due to the pandemic that forces the gallery to keep its doors closed.
“Blue is not just a beautiful color, but a metaphor with multiple meanings,” says exhibition co-coordinator Diane Steingart. Blue can evoke emotion, embracing both a gently calming effect and the deep sadness of “feeling blue.” Blue is also a prominent color in the palette of the environment around us, in the sky above and in the ocean that covers three quarters of the earth. And as we head towards the vote in November, as co-coordinator Sue Katz points out, “blue carries high-stakes political symbolism, in the confrontation between Democrat-blue and Republican-red ideologies.” There is a great variety of possible meaning as well as a broad range of color in Hues of Blue.
Artists in Community / Art Forum on Zoom
Join a small group of Gallery A3 artists in an interactive dialogue.
You are invited to join us for a live zoom forum called "Beyond Hues of Blue.” Five of the artists participating in the Hues of Blue show will talk about their work and how they have been managing during this challenging time.
It has been awhile since Gallery A3 Artists and our supporters have been able to see each other and talk about art. We miss our opening receptions and our friends! Bring your questions and comments!
