FOR PAULA / HONORING PAULA HITE

Picture

Gallery A3 mourns the loss and celebrates the life of gallery member Paula Hite (1962–2026) with a special exhibit, FOR PAULA, on the gallery’s north wall. Each participating artist selected a piece that relates to Paula’s great talent as an artist or her generous spirit in support of the gallery community.

Paula Hite joined Gallery A3 in January 2023. Prior to that she participated in many of A3’s juried shows, and as a member, she co-coordinated the juried show in 2024 and then coordinated the 10th Annual Juried Show in August 2025. Paula attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston culminating in receiving a Fifth Year Clarissa Bartlett traveling scholarship that allowed her to study Italian and make art in Tuscany. After living and teaching in Boston she moved to western Massachusetts. Paula created mixed media pieces merging drawing, painting, and collage; she worked abstractly with allusions to nature and with specific delight in color, movement, edges, and layered mark-making. For her two-person show INNER CIRCLES, she exhibited color mandalas that were part of a series of collages created with gesturally-painted papers. In her solo show in 2025, CONFLUENCE, repeating bands of vibrant color danced and wove together throughout her abstract acrylic paintings on paper. She was scheduled to have a 2 two-person show with Ron Maggio in March 2026; instead, with this exhibit FOR PAULA, Gallery A3 honors her artwork and memory.
