Gallery A3 Displays New Work
by GK Khalsa and Tom Morton
GK Khalsa: Assemblage (Within a Box or Frame)
GK Khalsa assembles three-dimensional objects into painted wooden reliefs, working within the format of a box or frame. His process entails wood-turning and other woodworking techniques, painting on wood, and arranging found objects.
Tom Morton: Cracks in the Wall
Tom Morton is showing a group of new, mostly abstract paintings and oil pastel drawings called Cracks in the Wall, along with earlier works, some of which will be exhibited for the first time. Although they are non-objective, says Morton, pieces in Cracks in the Wall try to suggest that pressures of climate change and social disruption push against the barriers that nations raise to contain the flow of displaced people, and can swell and strain to crack those walls.
Art Forum on August 19 at 7:30 pm
An Art Forum Online on August 19 at 7:30 pm will offer discussion of the work displayed in the gallery by Khalsa and Morton, along with a recording of David Reckford's talk, 'I Dwell in Possibility' The Art of Concision in the Poetry of Emily Dickinson. Reckford, PhD from the University of Nanterre, France, is a professor at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris. The event is free and open to the public. Click here to register for the zoom event.
